Day 9 Reaction to Change

Updated: Aug 9, 2020

When you decided to buy a Bokashi Pinoy starter kit, you already know the reason WHY you bought it. But people around you probably do not know why.

Moreover, you joined the challenge! Challengers are future advocates. You are a game changer! A change catalyst!

However, when we initiate changes, no matter how good the intention is - the reaction is not always that positive. And we discuss so that you know that you are not alone. We are here with you - we walk this journey together.

Let us say, you walk into office one morning and your seat is occupied by another person.

How would you react?

You come home one evening and you find your cupboard has been

reorganized without your knowledge.

Accepting change is very difficult. Even a small change at home or at the workplace, triggers a threat response which is the natural way in which our brain responds.

This causes fear and anxiety in us and with clouded thinking, it becomes challenging to think

rationally/ take decisions. We tend to become aggressive perhaps and lose our capability to

think ahead in that situation.

Now, imagine you noticed that one family / household member is asking you Why we have to do this? Why cant we just bury it in soil or just let the garbage man collect it? You have made all efforts to audit/ segregate/ add the bran/ transfer to the bucket and compress the food scraps into your bucket.

What would your reaction be?

Now explain that all the reactions/ responses are because of the way the brain responds to change.

Action items for the rest of this week:

  1. continue processing your cooked food waste, separately from raw fruits and veggies

  2. Harvest bokashi juice from bucket #1 every 2-3 days

  3. Transfer your tubs to bucket #2 every 3 days or when it reaches 5L.
