Today is Day 4!
We are going to discuss about The Bokashi Leachate It is Free! It is not for sale! You make this yourself as a byproduct of the fermentation process which usually starts on Day 4 onwards! Some of you may take up to 2 weeks to harvest some Bokashi Leachate.
Use of bokashi juice
1. As soil drench - 1:100 (1 Teaspoon in 500 mL dechlorinated water)
2. As foliar fertilizer - 1:300 (1 Teaspoon in 1500m mL dechlorinated water)
3. Concentrate - as sink pipe de-clogger, toilet & shower de-clogger.
4. Can be added to your in-process compost pit/pile/bin
5. To help the environment - pour your excess bokashi juice to the canal
As soil drench or basal fertilizer (1:100 dilution)
Example: 1 teaspoon (5mL Bokashi Leachate) to 500 mL dechlorinated water

As a foliar Spray (1:300 dilution)
Example: 1 teaspoon (5mL Bokashi Leachate) to 1500 mL dechlorinated water

How to use the Bokashi Leachate? All harvested and diluted Bokashi Leachate must be used within the day. These contain live microorganisms. Once they die, the leachate and the diluted solutions will lessen its effectivity.
Use it as a drain or canal declogger. The Bokashi Leachate is acidic due to the fermentation. Pour the undiluted Bokashi Leachate down the drains and canals, leave it overnight.
You may use it as a basal liquid fertilizer or as a foliar spray.
A basal fertilizer is one that you apply directly to the soil around the plants - not touching any part of the plant.
A foliar spray is one that you spray on to the leaves - having said that there are plants that do not like their leaves getting wet (even if its just water - examples are tomatoes, okra and eggplant - usually leaves that are hairy), it supposed to repel water).
Both basal fertilizer and foliar spray can be used every 15 days.
Conversions worth knowing for Bokashi Leachate dilution:
1 Liter (1L) = 1000ml
1 Tablespoon (1Tbsp) = 15ml
1 teaspoon (1tsp) = 5ml
As adult learners, its easy to remember concepts when you act on it immediately and then add visual cues. The labels will help you remember and ensure your family members would have visual cues as well.
Action item for today:
Harvest your bokashi leachate
Fill a 20Liter bucket with dechlorinated water then add 3/4 cup of Bokashi leachate
Label the bucket as "Basal Fertilizer 1:100"
Get a 1.5 Liter bottle and fill it with your Basal Fertilizer up to 1/3 full only - then fill it again with dechlorinated water.
Label the bottle " Foliar Spray 1:300"
The bokashi leachate is not the same as the Liquid Booster and Accelerator.
