Materials needed: Bokashied wastes in tubs Bokashi bucket set Bokashi ipa if you feel like you need to add more while transferring Molasses or brown sugar will help increase chances of a successful bucket Large pieces of paper Old Rubber Mat/ Carton (Pizza Cardboard box) cut to fit the inside of your Balde

When should we transfer from tubs to buckets: You may transfer your Bokashied wastes if you already have 5 tubs full, 5L or more of wastes, or if it's already been 3 days since your last transfer from tubs to buckets. Whichever comes first.

Steps:

  1. Lay a few layers of large pieces of paper at the bottom of your drainage bucket to prevent clogging the holes and the spout, 2 to 3 layers are enough.

  2. One by one, add the contents from the tub to the pail. Add some bran and if you feel like you need to add more. Molasses (optional)will also help too.

  3. Use large papers and compress the contents of the buckets, utilize your body weight to compact it tightly. You may use paperweight or other tools to help you with compressing. This is an important step so that all the air within the contents will be expelled and removed.

  4. Cover with rubber mat, cardboard, plastic, or a cloth before closing the lid.

Tips when transferring: The best time to transfer is 5pm to 8am, this is the time when the houseflies are inactive. Always check your tubs if they have been contaminated with black, blue, or green molds and/or insects. If contaminated, do not include in the bucket, bury it in your backyard or throw it out for garbage collection.
