Return Your EcoNest Ph Packaging Back to Nature Using the Bokashi Pinoy Method

Updated: Jan 18, 2021

Now that you know how to Bokashi your food waste and how to compost it together with your yard waste. Now, start changing your single use plastic packaging with EcoNest PH Compostable Packaging.

Here is a short video clip on how I included EcoNest PH compostable plastics in by Bokashi bucket:

Here is the end to end process:

Stage 1: Segregating food waste and compostable plastics and treating it with Fermenting Agent

Add your EcoNest PH compostable plastics to your tub of food waste. Then add a layer of Bokashi Ipa (our fermenting agent)

Transfer the contents of your tubs (which includes your compostable plastics) into the Bokashi Pinoy bucket, until the bucket is full

Stage 2 : Sealing and Fermentation Seal the bucket and let it ferment for 2 weeks without opening. After 2 weeks, this material is now called Pre-compost. You can either donate it to Make soil sites (click here: https://www.makesoil.org/map) or proceed to Stage 3 so you can use it for your own garden.

Stage 3 : Mix your fermented food waste and compostable plastics with soil and / or other carbon rich materials

Now that your food waste and compostable plastic are fermented - composting it should be easier and faster . After 2 to 4 weeks - you will have compost which you can use in your own garden or donate to someone else.

Compost gradually releases nutrients into the soil, thereby improving the soil environment.

  • Spread the compost on the field, and plough it to a depth of about 20cm

  • Spread the compost over soil, after planting crops

  • Bury compost to a depth of 20cm around a tree
