Lesson of the day:
So, is it organic? Let's put it into context

Context #1:
When someone says, "I only eat organic strawberries.", she means that she only eat strawberries that are grown without synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.
Context #2:
In order to make good compost, we need to add organic matter to the soil. In this case, we "organic" pertains to biodegradable matter.
Anyways, the topic today is - would you consider our finished Bokashi compost - "Organic"?
Yes, as we do not add any synthetic fertilizer or pesticide to it
What if the vegetables / fruits that we bought were not "organic" - we also know for a fact, that most synthetic chemicals stick to the skins / peels of veggies and fruits. If we bokashi the skins / peels, then chemical residues will also be added to our pre-compost, right? Right!
The good news though, is that the
microbial action during fermentation and the heat that comes with the decomposition in stage 3, will render these chemicals almost untraceable .

I say - "almost" untraceable in the finished compost.
But generally speaking, the most likely scenario “is that whatever traces of herbicides there may be in your compost are at such low concentrations that any impact will be far outweighed by the benefits of the compost,” writes Brown. “What has also been seen for the vast majority of these compounds is that plants do not take them up from soils.”
Action items for the day:
□ If you missed the previous daily challenge now is the time to catch up on reading.
□ If your bucket is already full - skip to Day 21 My Bokashi Balde (Bucket) is FULL!
